ARCH 1142 Communications - Atlas of Colour

COLOUR WINDOW

this is the window drawn originally in front of the red centre's window. i personally took the form of the framework of the window and use three cool colour because i want to represent the theme of the red centre as it has no direct sun light come in and it has quite lower temperature in the room. therefore my choice of colour is the cool colour. by filling up the window, i carefully chose the light and heavy area to represent the feeling of the window that i see.

FACE MAP

by tracing the face of REM KOOLHAAS, i decided to locate the different highness of the land by using colour symbols, corping and relocating.

ARCH 1142 Communications - Fluidity Thoughts in Architecture

cover page

COVER PAGE: a fluid drawing on the view outside of red centre with a enlarged building across the original drawing, which makes the first step of the constructivism

Second Page

SECOND PAGE: the second page contains two drawings:

fluid drawings on the opera house and the space my mate gave to me. the first drawing i've done is drawn outside of the opera house which basically is taken at the same spot

the given space is drawn according to what my mate described to me:

A dark room with a thin opening on the roof that forms a cross shape across the room and light can be seen piercing through it. The room is square shaped with 1 opening on each side. Each opening leads to the same square room as the first. A thin ray of light can be seen at the end of the endless duplicate of rooms.

3rd drawing: fluid drawing on the objects on the table

the 3rd drawing is basically drawing according to what i thought as a movement to represent the objects. the contrast of dark and light in the two of the corner and the contrast between the cloth and the object is also fluid.

A Kitchen Study by a stop-motion movie

the storyline of this movie is based on a Japanese traditional thinking that there is a god in any kinds of things. For instance, the Japanese believed there is a god for earth, everyone has to worship the god for earth if they want to live in a peaceful life. Therefore, my story begins with the descriptions of my kitchen then move up to the water drown of my kitchen and then the little god comes up to save my kitchen from being drowned.

Final Submission : Bridge
The sense of Power

Overall View

In my whole of design, i used quite a lot of color to represents different feelings in different areas. The colours will easily differetiate the space for different clients. Moreover, different Textures are applied, so they can also help to creat a sense of spatiality in different areas.

The main purpose of connecting everything through the bridge (which is the beam sits in the middle) is to represents the connection between two great power. Each of the power in this project was achieved as a sense of accumulation and floating. As for the two clients, carlos slim and zhang yin, they both has somehow collect the fortune somewhere. Carlos collects bussiness in mexico and worldwide and collect the profits and zhang yin, who is a chinese woman got her wealth from a quite middle level to the top of the class by collecting recyclings.

Meeting Space and Table

The meeting space which is composed of two areas as meeting table which showed below was seated on the polygon-shaped base and surrounded by a pool. This is kinda felt luxurious. All the lines are cut quite neatly so that it's quite easy for them to look around and find the right place for meeting.

Carlos Slim's space

The comparably dark space is for Carlos Slim. As his fortune is quite hidden by the world, the secret behind the richest man is to creat a space that makes kinda feels of uncertainty and great feeling of mysterious, so that it represents the great fortune behind but still cannot fully see them.

The color in my design and light effects are mainly concerned to be the main idea of the space. The usages of the light effects directly determined the spatiality and therefore creat a distinguished space here.

ZhangYin's Space

The space gives kind of sense of a bamboo house. This is inspired by the chinese culture. As is to design a space for a chinese lady. the spaces showed here were quite distinctive from the spaces for carlos. The bamboo or timber structure was connected through the bridge and spread to the top space. More importantly, the light effects under the bamboo slice is also a main effect of the top space.

Who's got the Power?

Analysis of Power:

Who's got the Power:
Natural Power -
1. Storm

2. Tornado

3. Earthquake

***
with the nature power , we can sense that strength by looking at the shapes of these natural hazards...for example the shapes of the storm are huge inversed trianglar shapes..which gives the sense of power...

Also, by looking at the surroundings that these natural hazards influenced...the power are represented in another way

Buildings that represents sense of power:

1. Potala Palace
(布达拉宫)

The Potala Palace is a World Heritage SiteThe Potala Palace (Traditional Chinese: 布达拉宫; Simplified Chinese: 布达拉宫), located in Lhasa, Tibet, was the chief residence of the Dalai Lama until the 14th Dalai Lama fled to Dharamsala, India after a failed uprising in 1959. Today the Potala Palace is a state museum of China. It is now a popular tourist attraction and an UNESCO World Heritage Site.

2. Forbidden City

* L-shaped wall....continuous + sense of strenching power
